VIEW: Bonhoeffer Botanical Gardens – Stanwood, WA
Looking to explore nature, and get in an easy hike? Then look no further than Bonhoeffer Botanical Gardens of Stanwood. It is located on the Eastern side of I-5, a bit off the city’s beaten path, and just happens to be the Pacific Northwest’s only native botanical garden. What does that mean? Well it’s not your average garden.
As you follow along the paved and boardwalk style trail (wheelchair accessible) you will find many things:
- 16 educational stations that tell you all about the nature and plant life you are seeing, with each designed to attract a different type of butterfly.
- Native trees and plants, including trees, shrubs, vines and ferns, grass, moss, mushroom, pond, flower and ground-cover species. Also home to daffodils during the Spring.
- Artwork, glass and more, floating in the wetlands, tucked in among the plants, and at the educational stations.
